Only healthy youth can build a strong Nation. – Dr. J. Swapna, CDPO

Telangana Reuters, Secunderabad, September 1, 2026: Dr. J. Swapna, CDPO (Child Development Project Officer) of the Secunderabad Project, attended the ‘Poshan Mahotsav – 2026’ event organized under the aegis of the Central Bureau of Communication.

Addressing the youth on this occasion, Dr. J. Swapna emphasized the pivotal role young people play in building a healthy society. She advised them to pay special attention to their daily dietary habits and to consume a balanced diet rich in nutritional value.

She noted that today’s youth are increasingly drawn to junk food and high-sugar beverages; she urged them to limit such consumption and instead incorporate home-available foods—such as lentils, millets, leafy greens, vegetables, fruits, and other nutritious items—into their diet. She also called upon them to strictly avoid substance abuse and to protect their friends and those around them from such dangers.

“It is not enough to simply fill one’s stomach; providing the body with essential nutrients is what matters,” she stated.

She remarked that the youth themselves could play a crucial role in spreading awareness about nutrition to every family. She encouraged them to share the nutritional knowledge they had gained with their family members, friends, and the wider community, thereby taking the message of nutrition to the public on a larger scale. On this occasion, a display of nutritious recipes prepared using locally available “low-cost or no-cost” ingredients was organized, and their nutritional value and preparation methods were explained.

Dr. J. Swapna stated that a healthy family, a strong society, and a developed nation can be built only when the youth are healthy.
During the event, all participants were administered the “Nutrition Pledge.”
