Telangana Reuters, Hyderabad, 29th September 2026 : “Don’t Miss a Beat” – Early Detection and Timely Treatment are Key to Heart Health: Dr. Sridhar Kasturi.

On the occasion of World Heart Day, KIMS-Sunshine Heart Institute organised a 2K Walkathon at the hospital premises in Begumpet to raise awareness about heart health. The programme was conducted with the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat” and was inaugurated by Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy, Managing Director, KIMS-Sunshine Hospitals, along with Dr. A. Bhavani, Senior Gynaecologist, and Dr. Sridhar Kasturi, Director, KIMS-Sunshine Heart Institute.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sridhar Kasturi said heart disease is not limited to older adults and that conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking and stress can increase cardiovascular risk among younger people as well. He advised people not to ignore warning signs such as chest pain or pressure, breathlessness, sudden sweating, unusual fatigue, or pain radiating to the jaw or arm. He stressed that early diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial, particularly during a heart attack, when restoring blood flow quickly can save lives.

He also highlighted advances in cardiac care, including advanced cardiac imaging, interventional cardiology, catheter-based procedures and cardiac surgery. Treatment options for heart valve disorders are selected based on the patient’s age, surgical risk, valve condition and other health factors.

The awareness programme was attended by Dr. Shailender Singh, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist; Dr. S. Vijay Kumar Reddy, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist; Dr. P.N. Rao, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon; Dr. A.
