Not a single drop of water has reached Hyderabad from Medigadda

An additional 5 TMC of water for the city by January, 2027

MR. DANAM NAGENDAR  MLA – KHAIRATABAD CONSTITUENCY

Telangana Reuters, Khairatabad, 25th October 2026 : Sri Danam Nagender stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is moving forward with a well-planned approach, keeping in mind the future drinking water requirements of Hyderabad. He announced that measures are being taken to provide an additional 5 TMC of water to the city by January 2027. Speaking at the MLA quarters in Adarsh Nagar, he mentioned that a nationwide campaign is underway regarding the issue of voter deletions, and urged everyone to participate in the ‘Chalo Delhi’ program, as called for by Rahul Gandhi. He noted that people from even the most remote villages across the country are traveling to join this event. He criticized BRS leaders for using their visit to Medigadda for political gain, alleging that they are exploiting the situation—which is part of the severe global consequences stemming from the El Niño effect—for their own political agenda. Danam Nagender pointed out that it was previous Congress governments that took concrete steps to address Hyderabad’s drinking water issues, noting that the initiative to bring 10 TMC of water from the Yellampalli project on the Godavari River to Hyderabad was undertaken during a Congress administration. He further mentioned that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) has warned that keeping the gates of the Medigadda Barrage closed could pose a significant danger. He criticized the fact that not even a single TMC of water has reached Hyderabad from Medigadda so far.

He clarified that the government is committed to improving the drinking water supply to meet the city’s future needs.
