Kakinada, 22nd July, 2026 : Manik Reddy Satyanarayana, head of the Manik Reddy Health Care Foundation, has demanded that the government regularize the services of ad-hoc and contract assistant professors who have been working at Adikavi Nannaya University for several years. He urged the government to consider the tenure of these qualified faculty members—who have long worked for meager salaries and without job security—and to regularize their positions. Noting that the current state government has issued a recruitment notification for faculty posts, he suggested that the contract faculty be regularized first, with only the remaining vacancies being filled through the new recruitment process.
He called upon both the government and the university administration to respond immediately and regularize the services of these ad-hoc and contract faculty members, emphasizing the need to address the long-standing exploitation they have faced. It was pointed out that the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has declared that continuing staff under the contract system for a prolonged period without providing any benefits amounts to exploitation and suppression; the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh has also affirmed this stance. Consequently, a demand was raised for the government and university managements to immediately comply with the directives of the Supreme Court and High Court by regularizing the services of Assistant Professors working on ad-hoc and contract bases. They urged the government to respond promptly and ensure justice by implementing the principle of “equal pay for equal work.”
