CM directs officials to intensify search operations to trace the missing Konaseema fishermen

TELANGANA REUTERS, 19TH AUGUST, 2026, AMARAVATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to intensify search operations to trace the fishermen of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district who went missing at sea.
The Chief Minister in a virtual interaction with Minister Atchannaidu and officials to review the search operations following the disappearance of seven fishermen from Odalarevu, Dummalapeta and Vasalathippa villages in Allavaram mandal, enquired about the progress of the search and rescue efforts.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the Coast Guard and Marine Police were conducting search operations, while the district administration was continuously monitoring the efforts. They said that two Dornier aircraft, Navy boats and seven other boats had already been deployed for the search.Fishing boats from Kakinada, Bhairavapalem, Visakhapatnam and Paradip have also been alerted and are assisting in gathering information about the missing boat, officials said.They further informed the Chief Minister that some boats had been spotted about 14 nautical miles from Paradip and that efforts were underway to ascertain whether they were connected to the missing fishermen.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to keep the families of missing fishermen informed about the progress of the search operations on regular basis.
