Telangana Reuters, Hyderabad, 12 July 2026: 101-Day ‘Telangana Praja Kala’ Cultural Festival Concludes Grandly – Three Special Musical Releases Unveiled.

The “Telangana Praja Kala” cultural festival, organized by the Department of Language and Culture, Government of Telangana, at the Palkuriki Somanna Moola Stage, Ravindra Bharathi, commenced on April 1, 2026. Originally planned as a 99-day celebration, the festival was extended by two more days due to overwhelming public response and concluded in a grand manner on Friday, marking its 101st day. Running continuously for more than three months, the festival not only showcased the rich heritage of Telangana’s folk arts to the nation but also provided an exceptional platform for artists, creating a landmark chapter in the state’s cultural history.

The closing ceremony vividly reflected the richness of Telangana’s culture, traditions, and folk heritage. Spectacular performances by Gussadi, Chindu Yakshaganam, Oggudollu, Women’s Dappu Ensemble, Banjara Dance, Bonalu Dance, Dappu performances, Kolatam, and several other folk art troupes captivated the audience. Organized under the aegis of the Department of Language and Culture, the colourful cultural procession from the AG Office to Ravindra Bharathi drew widespread public appreciation. The vibrant traditional costumes, rhythmic folk instruments, and energetic performances transformed the surroundings of Ravindra Bharathi into a festive celebration of Telangana’s cultural identity.

The stage came alive with folk songs, social awareness songs, promotional songs highlighting the Telangana Government’s development and welfare initiatives, and captivating traditional dance performances. Thunderous applause and enthusiastic cheers from the audience echoed throughout the venue, with every performance receiving an overwhelming response.
The Chief Guest, Mrs. Vani Prasad, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department, remarked, “A kingdom prospers where poets and artists are respected.” She emphasized that art is a timeless source of inspiration for society and reaffirmed the Telangana Government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of artists, the preservation of folk traditions, and the promotion of the state’s rich cultural heritage.
On the occasion, the book “Praja Kavita” was formally unveiled. This was followed by the release of the music CD of “Muddochche Muddochche Hyderabad”, a song portraying the historical and cultural grandeur of Hyderabad, written by Dr. Enugu Narasimha Reddy, IAS, Director of the Department of Language and Culture, and sung by renowned folk singer Vidyananda Chary.
Another significant release was “Mattulona Munagakura Mayadari Malliga”, a social awareness song written and sung by Vidyananda Chary as part of the Telangana Government’s prestigious “Prabhatha Bheri” campaign, carrying a powerful message against drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society.
The event also witnessed the unveiling of the “Praja Kala Geetham”. These three musical releases, along with the “Praja Kavita” book, received widespread appreciation and admiration from the dignitaries and audience alike.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Enugu Narasimha Reddy, IAS, Director of the Department of Language and Culture, while Dr. G. V. Vennela, Chairman of Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi, participated in the ceremony and felicitated the artists. Hundreds of artists, litterateurs, musicians, cultural personalities, and art enthusiasts from across Telangana attended the grand finale, making the celebrations truly memorable.
