Vani Prasad, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture (YAT&C) Department, Government of Telangana, inaugurated the exhibition on 6 August; opening evening to feature film screening and live virtual conversation with the artist.
Hyderabad, August 2026: Alliance Française Hyderabad, in collaboration with GoetheZentrum Hyderabad, will present L’Écho d’un Instant (The Echo of a Moment), a photography exhibition by French-Armenian photographer Georges Atamian, from 7–17 August 2026 at Alliance Française Hyderabad.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday, 6 August, at 7:30 PM by Smt. Vani Prasad, IAS, who will attend as the Chief Guest. The opening evening will also include a screening of Atamian’s poetic photographic film, D’instant en instant en Inde (From Moment to Moment in
India), at 8:00 PM, followed by a live virtual conversation with the artist.

Bringing together photography, cinema and dialogue, L’Écho d’un Instant (rien ne dure, tout demeure – Nothing lasts, yet everything remains) presents a deeply personal exploration of everyday life in Pondicherry. Through portraits, street scenes and moments of quiet observation, Atamian captures the dignity, resilience and warmth found in ordinary lives, inviting viewers to pause and discover the extraordinary within the familiar. At the heart of the exhibition is a distinctive artistic gesture. After photographing his subjects, Atamian returns with printed portraits and photographs them once again holding their own images. This act transforms photography from one of observation into one of exchange, creating works that celebrate trust, memory and shared human experience. Speaking about the exhibition, Amita Desai, Founder – Director, Goethe-Zentrum, Hyderabad, said:
“I find the works of Georges Atamian deeply engaging and intense. Through this series, he shows the intensity of people’s eyes and gaze, their faces, and their engagement with life, capturing different facets of people from diverse backgrounds. The photographs bring together happy and joyous faces, colours and festivals from different parts of India, juxtaposed with a deep and serene spirituality. As the series meanders through the country, through faces and eyes, it speaks of life, death and the spiritual journey of life. I look forward to seeing these photographs in Hyderabad at Alliance Française on 6 August.” Born in Armenia and raised in France, Georges Atamian left a successful corporate career to dedicate himself to photography, music and travel. Now based between Pondicherry, India, and Savoy, France, his work reflects a lifelong fascination with human connection, cultural encounters and the quiet poetry of everyday life. The exhibition is open to the public from 7 to 17 August 2026, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free.
